While in Qatar I had the opportunity to tour many planes. I also was able to purchase flags and have them flown over Iraq in different aircraft throughout my deployment. I made a trip out to see some B1's with my flags and actually was able to climb a ladder and sign a bomb. I had asked Mom in advance what she wanted the Kent Family Bomb to say and she replied..."Guaranteed to give you visions of virgins". So it was written! That bomber actually left for a mission a few minutes later during which it DROPPED OUR BOMB! I got to stand with the crew chief and salute the crew as they left parking. We then jumped in a truck and headed out to a small pad just to the side of the runway. I stood there watching as it started its engines and sped down the runway. It was to be the most awesome experience ever The sound of the engines made my BDU pants beat up against my legs with great force. I always remember that moment when I wonder why I do what I do. I've never had such pride in what I do as I did at that moment!
That being said, this week I got to do something a little different. I got to fly on the 135 and watch the boom operator fuel 8 F22's I believe. I shot some video and took lots of pics. I'll post a few below but they all are on my FB page. It was pretty awesome! Once again...another reason why I do this!

First week in Guam.....
After playing in the waterfall we crossed the bridge and headed to the site where Yokoi a Japanese WW2 vet hid for 28 years after the war had ended. The relation between the Japanese and the Chomorro (Guam locals) was not the best so fearing for his life he spent 28 years living off the produce of the island and stealing chickens from yards. He lived under the ground with only a bamboo rug covering the entrance for his underground hideaway. The picture below will give you an idea of how he lived. What would freak me out is that he couldn't even stand up down there. He was eventually found by two locals while they were hunting. After he was found was told he could return to Japan! He came back a few times to visit and tell his story. He passed away in Sept. 1997.
Also on our road trip we stopped to see an old lookout that was used to scout out pirates and war ships. We had to pose with the cannons of course. We also stopped to snap a pic of the Spanish Bridge. There are tons of Spanish contributions to the island. They even brought over some obnoxious wildlife we could have lived without like wild boars and brown snakes. Most of the snakes are gone now. They have traps to catch them all along the base fence line. Unfortunately the brown snakes had eliminated the bird population and other creatures before we decided to try to remove them from the island.
